Borophene is powerful - but it’s not magic. And like anything that gets popular quickly, it’s already surrounded by myths, misunderstandings, and false promises. At SHiFTUP, we get DMs every day asking if it makes your car scratch-proof, never need washing, or survive anything nature throws at it. So let’s be clear. This is what borophene can and can’t do.

Does borophene make your car scratch-proof?

No. It makes your car far more resistant to micro-scratches, swirl marks, and paint fading. But if a bike’s handle hits your fender or someone keys your door, borophene won’t stop that. Think of it like sunscreen. It protects you from daily sun damage, but if you lie on the beach for hours without reapplying, you’ll still burn. Borophene is like that - great everyday protection, not superhero armor.

Will you never need to wash your car again?

You’ll still need to wash, just far less often. The coating repels dust, water, and grime far better than ceramic. Which means your car stays cleaner longer, and when it does need a wash, it takes half the time. What borophene eliminates is the guilt. Skip a wash, and you won’t be punished with water spots and sticky grime. But it’s not a permanent anti-dirt forcefield. A regular rinse now and then is still healthy.

Is borophene just an overpriced version of ceramic?

Not at all. Ceramic coatings are 9H in hardness. Borophene clocks in at 10H+, with a tighter atomic structure that bonds better to the paint. It’s thinner, more resilient, and doesn’t chalk or flake like older ceramic coats. More importantly, SHiFTUP’s formula is designed for Indian roads and weather - not mild lab conditions. So when people say all coatings are the same, they’re usually comparing marketing, not results.

Is Borophene only for luxury cars?

Definitely not. Our most common customers drive i10s, Brezzas, Fronx, and Seltos. That’s because it’s not about the badge on the car. It’s about protecting the investment you’ve made. If your car cost you ₹8–15L and you plan to keep it for five years, ₹21,995 is nothing compared to what you’d spend correcting damage later. In fact, borophene makes more sense for everyday cars, because their resale value benefits more from clean, undamaged paint.

Is ₹21,995 too much for a coating?

That depends on how you think about it. You’ll spend more than that upgrading your phone in two years. And phones don’t sit outside in bird droppings and 45°C heat. Borophene breaks down to around ₹262 a month. That’s less than Netflix. And it protects your second biggest purchase after your house. If your car matters to you - not just today but three years from now - the price becomes easy to justify.

Is Borophene just another overhyped trend?

No. Borophene is a real nanomaterial, discovered and studied for high-performance applications like aerospace and energy. We didn’t invent it. We just applied it to Indian cars, in a way that’s scalable, affordable, and easy to access. You don’t have to go to a lab. We come to your parking lot. And you see the difference every time you drive. That’s not hype. That’s delivery.

Still have doubts?

Ask us. We’d rather lose a sale than make a fake promise. If you want your car to stay glossy, protected, and resale-ready for the next seven years - this is it. If you want to avoid re-coating, re-polishing, and repainting, borophene is your way out of the coating loop.

It doesn’t make your car invincible. But it does make it easier to own, easier to clean, and harder to damage. That’s a win in our books.
